I’ve always felt the need to push myself to the limits – not just in business and not just on the racing track but in making a difference. Recently, I embarked on a philanthropic journey, driven by a desire to contribute to a cause close to my heart.

The world of motorsport has given me so much, and it was time to give something back. The inspiration came when I stumbled upon a cause that I found really resonated with me – the well-being of Kenyan children.

As an entrepreneur and as a racing driver, my life revolves around precision and pushing boundaries. However, there’s more to me than the roaring engines and the adrenaline rush. It’s important to me that I am able to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those less fortunate — and it starts with two amazing charities.

Kids’ League Kenya

Kids’ League Kenya is a transformative initiative, dedicated to enriching the lives of children through sports and education. Their impactful programmes empower young minds by fostering a love for sports while simultaneously emphasising the importance of education. 

By providing a platform for children to engage in various sports activities, Kids League Kenya promotes physical well-being, teamwork, and valuable life skills. Committed to creating a positive impact, they strive to build a brighter future for the youth in Kenya. Through their innovative approach, the organisation stands as a beacon of hope, shaping the next generation with opportunities that extend beyond the playing field.

Tomas Barnardo House 

Part of the Kenyan Children’s Homes network, Tomas Barnardo House is a safe haven for vulnerable children in Kenya. Committed to providing a nurturing environment, they offer essential care, education, and support to children facing adversity. 

There is a real focus on holistic development, which ensures that the children in their care receive not only shelter and sustenance but also the educational tools to break the cycle of poverty. Through their dedicated efforts, the organisation aims to empower each child with the skills and resilience needed for a brighter future, embodying a commitment to transforming lives and building a stronger, more compassionate society.

Making and positive impact

These hugely worthwhile charities make impactful efforts in changing the lives of vulnerable children. They aim to break the cycle of adversity by offering children positive and constructive activities, steering them away from potential pitfalls. 

By fostering a sense of community, these charities contribute to the transformation of societies, creating stronger and more compassionate communities. Their commitment to creating lasting, sustainable change and transparent operations makes them valuable contributors to the well-being and future success of the children they serve.

Matching donations

The idea was simple yet powerful – after my initial contribution, to match donations of those who were further inspired to be a part of this important move for change, and to amplify the impact on organisations working tirelessly for the betterment of these young lives. 

Kenyan children face numerous challenges, from lack of access to quality education to limited healthcare resources. These challenges can be daunting, but I believe that with collective efforts, we can overcome them and pave the way for a brighter future.

Reaching those in need

My journey in both the worlds of business and motorsport has taught me the significance of teamwork, strategy, and perseverance. These lessons are not confined to the racetrack or the boardroom; they are principles that can be applied to any pursuit, especially when it comes to philanthropy. 

The call for Kenyan children’s charities is not just a one-time event. It’s an ongoing commitment to making a lasting impact. I am dedicated to ensuring that the contributions reach those in need and highlighting the transparency and accountability that are integral to this initiative.
